KristuJyoti College, Bengaluru, celebrated its College Day with a vibrant and inspiring program themed "Light Up the World" on October 30, 2024, just before Deepawali. The day began with a meaningful Holy Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Rev. Fr. SivyKoroth SDB, Principal of KristuJyoti College. He emphasized that Jesus is the Light of the World, and the Church embodies this light, quoting Lumen Gentium, while calling all of us be the light to dispel the darkness of evil. The liturgy was beautifully animated by Rev. Fr. James Kadankavil SDB and accompanied by a melodious choir from third-year BTh students.
The College Day cultural event was held in the College Auditorium, bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished guests for an inspiring celebration filled with reflection and vibrant cultural performances. The celebration commenced with a Prayer Dance performed by the Diploma students, setting a spiritual tone for the gathering. This was followed by the traditional Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the illumination of knowledge.
Rev. Fr. Koroth Sivy SDB, Principal of KJC, warmly welcomed everyone, highlighting the importance of this event in fostering community spirit and celebrating academic achievements. Rev. Fr. Kidangan Ouseph Seby SDB, Registrar of KJC, introduced the esteemed Chief Guest and Keynote speaker, Prof. M. J. Vinod, a respected Professor of International Studies, Politics, and History at Christ University, Bangalore. His thought-provoking talk on the theme "Moral and Ethical Dilemmas of Armed Intervention in World Politics" challenged the audience to consider the complexities of global issues and the moral responsibilities that come with them. His presence and words added prestige to the occasion.
Rev. Fr. Bosco Ponthokkan SDB, Rector of KJC, honoured the gathering with words of encouragement, urging everyone to develop a contextual approach to theology - finding our own language that speaks clearly to people's understanding. Rev. Fr. Kalathikattil Alex SDB, Rector of Visvadeep too shared encouraging words that inspired the students and strengthened the College's dedication to a well-rounded approach in theological studies.
The cultural program showcased an impressive array of performances from various student groups, reflecting the diverse talents within the College community. The performances not only entertained but also celebrated the creative spirit of the students, culminating in a vibrant display of unity and cultural diversity. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dn. Berdouil Raj Arokia SDB, expressing gratitude to all participants, guests, and organizers for making the College Day a resounding success. This was followed by a festive meal and a thrilling treasure hunt organized by Br. Jins and team, which everyone enjoyed immensely.
The College Day at Kristu Jyoti College was a testimony to the institution's dedication to nurturing both academic excellence and cultural enrichment, truly embodying the spirit of the theme "Light Up the World."
