The staff and students of Kristu Jyoti College, Bengaluru are deeply saddened by the passing away
of Fr. Antony Mampra SDB (age 95) on 16 May 2021 at Don Bosco, Sultan Bathery. The funeral
services were held at Mount Don Bosco, Padivayal, Kerala. Fr. Antony Mampra was the first rector
of Kristu Jyoti College from 1967 to 1972 and professor. We are deeply grateful to him for his
dedicated service as a formator both in Kristu Jyoti College and in different formation houses of
India.
Fr. Antony Mampra was born on 13 November 1926 at Kainakary, Kerala. He entered the Salesian
aspirantate at Tirupattur in 1945 and made his first profession on 24 May 1947. He made his final
profession on 7 December 1952 and was ordained a priest on 8 December 1955. He has taught in
some of the notable Major seminaries of India, such as the Sacred Heart College, Shillong, Kristu
Jyoti College, Bengaluru and Sacred Heart Seminary, Poonamallee. He also served as Novice
master at the Retreat, Yercaud and Mount Don Bosco, Kotagiri, apart from his dedicated service as
teacher and confessor in the novitiate for several years. May the Lord grant eternal repose to His
faithful servant.
