On 19th March 2018 the Order of Diaconate was conferred on twenty six students of theology at Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore in the presence of Salesian Provincials of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Goa and the Bangalore Provincial of TOR Congregation. The Salesian Vice Provincials of Trichy and Bangalore as well as several superiors and representatives of other Congregations too were present. Among those ordained to the ministry of Diaconate 16 were Salesians, and 10 belonged to other Congregations. The celebration began at 7 am with all the celebrants and those to be ordained with their parents going in a procession to the Chapel from the entrance of KJC. After the Entrance hymn Fr. James Kadankavil sdb, Rector of Kristu Jyoti College welcomed the Archbishop, Provincials, priests, sisters, brothers, parents, family members and the entire gathering. Thereafter, Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil sdb, Provincial of Bangalore presented the candidates to the Archbishop. The homily was given by the Archbishop himself after with he conferred the Order of Diaconate. Before the final blessing Deacon Sumon Uzhunnalil sdb proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of those ordained to the Diaconate. Breakfast was served for all the participants in the dining hall of KJC. The whole celebration was well planned and successfully carried out under the leadership of the rector and community members of KJC.
